Words

There is something so therapeutic about writing. Just writing...anything. On paper you can do anything, become anyone you want to or remain the way you are without anyone hating that. On a bad day, I write. No tears. No fights. Just words. And they come pouring out, like they want to be there. Like they belong there. They're filled with all the emotions I keep stored up. Sometimes I reserve such emotions so that later I can go and type them into a story. Sounds pathetic but it's actually a better use of emotion. I believe that if serial killers or depressed people slitting their wrists would just sit down and write for a bit, they might reach a better place than the one they are in. This is because there's no identity when you write- no names or race or gender or sexual orientation because what your words are is what You are then. In stories and poems everything can be perfect and nobody will doubt you or disgrace you. You're free then, for those fleetingly few minuets or hours, you are completely free to be....you. Penning down real feelings so that you don't have to suppress them or fight them. Entering a new world when the real one seems too complicated. That's the magic of writing. 
     It's the reason why I, personally, started this blog. I didn't crave or expect any followers. Of course I LIKE having people read my thoughts and words, in fact I even love that. But just having a forum to write is one of the best things that has happened to me. Someday I wish I can do more than just help myself with this. I wish my words can help someone who needs it. The only problem is, I don't know how to do that. Reading good blogs really clears my head so I'm just going to try to not write too many crappy posts. 
    Until my ink dries and computer crashes, I'll keep trying with the faith of my words. We'll see how it goes from there on.

Sometimes, the Earth decides to be a douche.....

I know I said I wasn't going to write but I have two reasons for writing right now,
1) The MAJOR 8.9 magnitude earthquake that started in Japan.
2) All 6 of you probably don't care if I post right now or 5 days later.
As for the title of this post, you know what I am talking about. The Earth just decides to bump it's plates together sometimes to annoy the crap out of us. I suppose there is really nothing we can do to prevent that. The only thing we can do is clean up afterwards. I'm personally going to send relief as soon as possible. A Shout out to Google which has launched a version of its Person Finder service for people caught up in the Japanese earthquake. Once again, Google comes to the rescue.

But on a serious note, I really appreciate every one trying to help in every way possible. I know that somehow after all of this is over, Japan and every other country that has been affected can get better.

And a special message to all the people I know/am aquatinted to/ respect in the Philippines and the US, I hope everyone is alright.

Oscar Recap

The 83rd Academy awards were interesting this year with moments varying from cute and funny to plain boring. The fashion, though, was brilliant and people Really dressed like they should have (well, mostly)
Here's a recap of Sunday night's Oscar Awards:
Starting off with the Red Carpet, I was thrilled to see my favorites looking gorgeous (special mention: Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford was like a picture of my dreams. I love him and I love Tom Ford so this was perfect) And though it was tough, I managed to pick the 3 best dressed, them being
1) Hailee Steinfeld

2) Mila Kunis

3) Gweneth Paltrow  

I still can't decide wether I loved or hated Cate Blanchette so here's a picture for you to decide:

There were some amazing and fun presenters up there; Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal (well, him 'cos I love him. His presenting skills weren't top notch) and of course Oprah and her shiny chest.
Uhm, note Miss O, that dress was Way too shiny up there. But I still love you and the awesome gifts you give on your show :)
Special moments of the night included Melissa Leo being speechless while giving a speech and being the only one who cursed during the whole night. The latter was disappointing as I expected more fun cursing. James Franco in a dress was a sight! I absolutely adored him even though I hate to say he looked bored during the hosting.
A great moment was during David Siedler's accepting speech for "The Best Original Screenplay" for "The King's Speech". He was referring to the people in the world who have stuttering problems and gave them a special shout out by saying, "We have a voice. We have been heard. Thanks to the Academy." that was sweet :)
One of the things that really made the Oscars night amazing was Celine Dion's performance. She is beautiful and talented and French Canadian. Killer combination.

The big winners of the night were of course "Inception" and "The King's Speech" with 4 awards each, "The Social Network" received 3 and "Alice In The Wonderland" 2. Big shockers- "Black Swan" only receiving 1 and "127 Hours" none. Woah.
So, that's about it! Everything else was somewhat boring and so I pray that this did not put you to sleep 'cos otherwise the Oscars would be brutal. All in all, I don't really regret waking up at 4:30 am (live in India) for the Red Carpet after about 3 and a half hours of sleep because for some reason* the Academy Awards are always cool to watch. :D

Zangoora, The Gypsy Prince.

I'm currently obsessing over Broadway. Well, I was always in love with theatrical shows, but 2010-11 has brought me a new interest in them. Unfortunately, I have never seen a performance in real life and so cannot fully comment on them (besides saying that they FRIKKIN' BLOW YOUR MIND) but I can give a review on the attempt my country, India, has made on a theatrical musical. And I can say that this attempt was in no way in vain. The musical I talk of is said to be Bollywood's biggest musical experience ever. This extravaganza is in fact, 'Zangoora' the gypsy prince.

 

For those who don't know the story of Zangoora, it is about a prince being raised as a gypsy boy as he was unaware of his real parents being rulers. This gypsy prince grows up to be handsome, popular and talented and falls in love with a princess. The story follows his tale of finding out his true identity and in the end (of course) getting the girl and defeating the evil guy who killed his parents. (not a spoiler, if you know Bollywood, you know that's what would happen) And obviously, where there is Bollywood, there are Hindi songs and a LOT of dancing. And kebabs, but we'll get to that later.
The only problem I had with this play was that the songs were all but one from Hindi movies. I thought they were going to be original. Oh well, the dancing was great. And now for the kebabs- I recognized one of the dancers as a guy who used to sell me kebabs! Really, he was amazing (for those who are wondering, amazing in both the dancing and the kebab making) I guess it really doesn't matter where you come from to be great.

So yeah, Zangoora was overall a thrilling experience and I truly wish all Indians who get a chance would go and watch it.
P. S- foreigners can watch too, they just have to pay Rs. 200 more for the headsets that play the english dialogues. They come in French and Spanish too, I think :)
